Welcome!

Order of Pegasus is the most prestigious and significant award a student can attain at the University of Central Florida. Order of Pegasus recognizes exemplary performance by UCF bachelor's degree students in the areas of academic achievement, outstanding university involvement, leadership, and community service. Master's degree students, doctoral, professional, or MD students are selected separately based on academic achievement, professional or community service, leadership, and publication or research experiences.

Nominations

Students are nominated by individuals who broadly represent the university community including the president, provost and executive vice president, vice provosts, vice presidents and deans, student body president and the director of athletics. Nominees are asked to complete a formal application, provide an essay, separate recommendations, and may be chosen to attend personal interview with the selection committee.

Selection Process

Following the receipt of nominations, a separate selection committee comprised of high-ranking university officials, reviews and assesses each candidate's written materials. Completing the application are documents that include:

  • University Involvement and Leadership
  • Academic Achievement
  • Publications and/or Research Experiences (graduate students only)
  • Community Service
  • Essay regarding the impact to UCF on the student's life
  • Recommendations

The final step for the nominated student is participation in a personal interview with the committee. Please note that receipt of an application does not guarantee an interview. The committee then meets to make its final selections.

Pegasus Lounge

The lounge located on the second floor of the Student Union overlooks the Pegasus Grand Ballroom. This area has been dedicated as the "Pegasus Lounge" and is where anybody on campus can view the inducted members of the Order of Pegasus. Each year a plaque is added to the wall honoring the inductees and includes their names and a group photograph.
